Berkshire - Places to Stay and Information

The Rasm-e-Hina on Saturday 16th will be in Finchampstead, a small village 3 miles south of Wokingham where the Walima reception will take place on Sunday 17th.

For directions to Wokingham by road I find www.maps.google.co.uk very good. Select Get directions and enter your town and destination, it takes about 1 hour from London on the M4. 3 hours from Norwich using the A11 and M25. Let me know if you need help!
For Rail from London, trains leave from Waterloo or Paddington direct to Wokingham station and takes about 1 hour and a half. From Norwich with 3 changes, it takes 4 hours.
From Heathrow there is a bus that takes around an hour, or make your way to Victoria, Paddngton or Waterloo stations and continue from there.

Saturday 16th July - Rasm e Hina

Saturday 16th is the henna party (otherwise known as the Rasm-e-Hina or Mehndi) and I can not wait! I’ve heard so many stories about what goes on, other than the obvious henna painting, there’s a really sweet ceremonial aspect (purely cultural as opposed to religious) where the bride is blessed to have a long and prosperous marriage.

One of the myths involved with henna is that the darker the colour the henna turns out, the more your husband-to-be will love you! That is the reason why, even after its application the henna is kept on overnight to get a deeper, darker color on the palms. Traditionally, after her marriage, the bride is not supposed to do any house work till the henna fades out completely. That's something I will be totally taking on board then!

Traditionally it's a girls only thing but ours will be mixed.
 xoxo

The hall is in Finchampstead, very close to Wokingham. I've listed some places to stay on the following post.
